Facelift & Neck Lift

Facial rhytidectomy with high lamellar SMAS plication.

A modern facelift

Aging, sun exposure, and weight loss can all lead to a tired and deflated appearance of the face and neck. Over time, the face tends to flatten, resulting in sagging skin of the neck and jowls. Folds and lines deepen, and the eyes may appear tired as well.

Technique

Dr. Steffen uses a lamellar, high-SMAS technique to restore the muscles and soft tissues of the face and neck to their natural position. With this technique we avoid the windswept appearance of the 80s and 90s, the lateral sweep, and other dated problems. If we contour the structure of the face in a beautiful way, the skin will demonstrate that.

Incisions are hidden to leave no noticeable scars. Additional treatments can include a browlift, upper and lower blepharoplasties, and chemical peels depending on your goals.

The result

The results are transformational. People who know you will admire how great you look. Strangers will think you look great — but never wonder whether you had plastic surgery.

Coverage

Facelift is a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance.

Insurance & coverage

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons considers this a cosmetic procedure. It is not typically covered by insurance. Pricing is discussed transparently at consultation.

Frequently Asked

Common questions about facelift & neck lift.

Will I look "windswept" or obvious after a facelift? +

No. Dr. Steffen uses a lamellar high-SMAS technique that avoids the telltale signs of older facelifts — the windswept appearance, the lateral sweep, and the "joker smile" of the 80s and 90s. The goal is a result where people who know you admire how great you look, and strangers simply assume you look great.

How long is facelift recovery? +

Most patients take two to three weeks off social activity. Bruising fades over two to three weeks, and swelling continues to refine over several months. Incisions are placed in natural contours along the hairline and ear so they are not noticeable once healed.

What can be combined with a facelift? +

A facelift is often combined with a neck lift, brow lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, fat grafting, and chemical peels — depending on your goals. A thoughtful combination produces the most natural and lasting rejuvenation.

How long do facelift results last? +

Facelift results are long-lasting. While you will continue to age naturally after the procedure, the clock is effectively set back. The structural improvements to the face and neck remain, and most patients enjoy their results for many years.

Am I too young or too old for a facelift? +

Age is only one factor. Dr. Steffen evaluates your facial anatomy, skin quality, and goals at consultation. Some patients benefit earlier; some are great candidates into their seventies. What matters is whether the procedure can deliver a meaningful, natural result for you.
